| Fact: Kingston hates the paparazzi. |
[Nov. 28th, 2009|11:46 pm] |
Always making sure to fit in quality family time, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale took their son Kingston to the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood on Saturday (November 28).
The No Doubt frontwoman and her Bush rocker hubby both looked casually stylish as they escorted their eldest son in to see “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”.
As previously reported by Gossip Center, recent reports tell that Gwen is cracking the whip on the owners of a Minnesota bar who have been playing her music without the proper license.
Stefani (as well as the rock band Bon Jovi) has filed a lawsuit against Sally’s Saloon and Eatery in Minneapolis, asking them to stop playing her music without the legal right to do so.

| David Blue 'in talks for Ugly Betty return' |
[Nov. 28th, 2009|11:16 pm] |

David Blue has revealed that he has spoken to producers about returning to Ugly Betty, after bowing out of the ABC comedy series last year.
The actor, currently starring in Syfy's Stargate Universe, played Cliff, who was a love interest to Wilhelmina Slater's faithful assistant Marc.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Blue admitted that he would love to reprise the role, and has had talks with the Betty team about a possible return.
"I've always felt from the beginning that I would love any opportunity to go back," he said. "I think Cliff is a really important character and he's great fun to play. I love working with that cast too.
"Cliff and Mark's relationship is a story that deserves to be told. There have been talks here and there about coming back, but it's never quite worked out."
He added: "I hope that at some point during my hiatus that we can work something out because I'd play for as long as they'd let me!"

| How Eva Green managed to escape the Bond girl curse |
[Nov. 28th, 2009|10:00 pm] |

It’s one of the most coveted roles in the film world, being a Bond girl.
Glamorous locations, heavenly beaches and, of course, the chance to get intimate with a dashing leading man means there’s never a shortage of actresses to take the part.
But it often leads nowhere; just ask Maryam D’Abo, Carey Lowell, Talisa Soto, Izabella Scorupco, or any of the other girls whose careers stalled after locking lips with Her Majesty’s finest.
Since making her breakthrough as Vesper Lynd in 2006’s Bond reboot Casino Royale, Eva Green has bucked that trend, choosing interesting, unconventional roles proving she’s more than an admittedly very pretty face.

| baked goods that ship well/Petit Fours |
[Nov. 28th, 2009|10:37 am] |
BAKEBAKEBAKE,
This may be a shot in the dark, but I am wanting to send a few of my friends who live in different states/Canada something baked for christmas. I don't even know if this is possible, but I am open to any and every idea someone could give me. Even if the idea is just like: oh cookies ship well, that would be so super helpful because I am so confused as to what would ship well and have a possibility of arriving in one piece. If you have a favorite recipe or something that ships well, I'd appreciate that also.
Also, question number two, would Petit Fours ship well at all? I'm thinking not so much seeing as it is a cake and the time in the box would leave room for soggy cake upon arrival. Just wondering if anyone has ever shipped them with good results.
Thank you so much in advance, I appreciate it so much. I know I have a million requests, so thanks for reading!
p.s., dear mod, i'm sorry my tags probably aren't correct, I tried. <3

| Amityville Horror Getting Remade... Again (THE REMAKE) |
[Nov. 28th, 2009|10:02 pm] |
Mining Hollywood’s past and Asia’s present for remake material has become common practice in that wonderful city we call L.A. But usually when we think of “Hollywood’s Past” our brains jump immediately into the 70’s and 80’s. Not those cinematic pioneers the Weinsteins, though, Bloody Disgusting is reporting that the brothers are pushing the envelope by simply going to 2005 and cultivating Amityville Horror for yet another remake. Now that is innovation.
Hulk did it, Texas Chainsaw is doing it, so sure, let’s go ahead and let Amityville do it too. There's no explanation for why they’re not just going to make a sequel since there are several sequels to the 1979 original that they can rip off, but I guess we need to stop questioning Platinum Dunes’ motivation and just let them do whatever.
The 2005 remake starred a bearded Ryan Reynolds looking for every reason he could find to be shirtless in a horror movie and grossed $108 million on top of its miniscule $19 million budget. It wasn’t an amazing movie, but it was competent and did what it needed to do, make money and fill time, so doing ANOTHER remake defines “useless.” Within the next 5 years I’m convinced that all we’re going to see are remakes of remakes, and reboots of movie’s made after 2000. I’d like to keep up hope for the future of Hollywood, but this is a heartbreaking move in the wrong direction.

| Radiohead: band of the decade |
[Nov. 28th, 2009|08:07 pm] |

It's easy to forget, but Radiohead almost never made it into this decade. After OK Computer the Oxford quintet refused to do the obvious and become a conventional stadium rock act: instead they started again, binning most of the guitars along the way. Initial sessions for 2000's electronica-influenced Kid A were characterised by creative deadlock and rows that led to rumours they might split. What emerged positioned them as perhaps the era's only big band capable of genuine surprises. This even applied to the business of music with 2007's In Rainbows: the pay-what-you-like digital honesty box. The album itself saw a softening of approach, with the guitars plugged back in, but it was no less impressive than Kid A. Nor was the marvellous track they released this year – Harry Patch (In Memory Of), a tribute to the last surviving British soldier of the Great War – some kind of throwaway simply because it appeared online. So Radiohead ended the Noughties as they began, challenging themselves and, in the process, everyone else. When we speak at the end of November, bassist Colin Greenwood is in good spirits, fresh from tinkering with what may become a new album and relaxed about his band's singular route through the past 10 years.
( Colin Greenwood's interview with the Guardian. Politics, album format, rumors about the band breaking up...Twilight. )
Source New album coming soon? For sure, we can expect a new Thom song...well, not really new. He's going to cover someone, fyi. |

Eric Mabius says a lot about his career and a little about fashion By Christopher Muther Globe Staff / November 19, 2009

NORTHAMPTON - Over the course of a brilliantly sunny Saturday - the kind of day when the sky appears even more cerulean than usual thanks to vivid yellow and scarlet leaves that stubbornly cling to branches - it becomes very clear that Eric Mabius has a tendency to overextend himself.
Mabius, best know for his portrayal of fashion magazine heir and playboy Daniel Meade on ABC’s “Ugly Betty,’’ woke up early to drive home to Massachusetts. This fall, he and his wife, Ivy, moved back to Western Massachusetts, where they first met as freshmen at Amherst Regional High School, to raise their two sons. Whenever Mabius isn’t filming in New York, he’s driving back here to spend time with his family.
On this particular Saturday, Mabius drove home, then jumped back in the car to hit a photo shoot. After five hours of playing model, he’s settling back with beet salad and calamari to talk about his move to Massachusetts, his four seasons playing Daniel Meade, and, of course, fashion. After dinner, he’ll meet a high school friend at a nearby bar, and try to get home before his sons get to bed.
“My wife will tell you I have a tendency to do a lot in a very short amount of time,’’ he says, at which point Ivy pipes in: “You think so?’’ ( Read more... )
